Timmerhus- och fäbodkulturen är kanske två av de mest utmärkande karaktärerna för stora delar av Skandinavien. Speciellt i de barrskogsdominerade delarna norr om biologiska norrlandsgränsen. For hundreds of years the farmers of Sweden brought their animals into the forests for the summer. These summer forest villages form what is called Fäbod culture or ‘transhumance’. Many traditions have evolved around this forest grazing including a wide range of instruments and songs used to call the animals back from the forest and communicate with other herders across the valleys and mountains. This is the Nysjöns Fäbod in central Sweden, one of the few remaining Fäbods still practicing these traditions.
